Why your Dentrix Layout Looks Different

This is one of the most common questions I get asked and it’s because it is so easy to accidentally change your layout. There are little X’s next to each module in Dentrix that can easily be pushed by accident which makes that panel or section of the patient chart “disappear.” Another common issue is if you double click on the progress notes tab, clinical notes tab or images tab. If you double click or even if you drag that section away it will pop out of its place and be free floating. So when your chart layout just doesn’t look the same and you can’t quite figure out why, that’s usually the reason.

The Fix

Luckily, this is a super easy issue to fix in Dentrix. Follow the following steps to reset your chart layout.

  • In the patient chart, go to the top toolbar and click View then Chart Layout.
  • From here you can select the layout you want. The Dentrix default options are Work Chart, Full Screen Chart, Progress Notes or Treatment Planer).
  • You can also create your own custom layout by moving the chart around yourself until everything is customized where you want it, then go to View > Chart Layout > Save Current Layout. Create a name for this layout and click save.

Conclusion

Resetting your Dentrix patient chart layout is a quick and easy process that can help you organize and customize your patient information. By following the steps outlined in this tutorial, you can restore your layout to its default settings and make any necessary adjustments to suit your needs.
